To be Seven
Wednesday, November 10, 2021
The wonderful (dreaded) holidays are upon us. I had hoped to get all my Christmas shopping done early this year, which is a goal I have every November and inevitably do not achieve. I guess there is still time, but I’m not optimistic.
Sophie’s Christmas list this year is something worth preserving for eternity (assuming the internet lasts forever.) She writes like she talks and it is pure gold, something I never want to forget—the parentheses, the diss on cinnamon rolls, the progression of animal requests in seemingly backwards order. This is what it is to be seven at Christmas. What a joy. What a hilarity. What a reminder it is of all that is good and pure and innocent and beautiful.
