They are how I try to make sense of the world.
In Song of Myself by Walt Whitman, he writes:
"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)"
That aptly describes me and this space. You will find contradictions in my ideas and writing since I'm just as searching and curious and complex as you. Writing, for me, is more about asking questions than it is about answering them. The struggle is where the story lives. I am learning that certainty is like the wind, and yet, we can still know things. Tension is a teacher, she lives with us and in us, always.
I care and write about identity, the idea of home, politics, faith and religion, race and racial justice, women’s equality, mental health and depression, the experience of being a human being in the world, complexity and nuance, embracing uncertainty, books, movies, and motherhood, to name a few. I love photography, and light, and sometimes will post photo essays.
This space also serves as a way to simply say: I was here.
So, thank you for being here, and bearing witness.
