Victoria, BC

Last August my brother, Joe, got married. He and his wife, Kristina, opted for a destination wedding on Quadra Island, which is an island within Vancouver Island, which is off the coast of Vancouver, BC. I spent two years in Vancouver, which was the beginning of an awakening for me. I became aware of the world outside of what was familiar to me. I loved my time in BC. I miss it often. Their wedding was a perfect opportunity for my 6 siblings and I and our parents to all be in the same time zone (a rarity) and for me to go back to a place I truly love. The air was light and crisp, even in August. We paddle boarded and caught up and ate jalapeño french toast and stared at the pacific water and I even tried weed for the first time.
I met up with my sister, two of my brothers and my grandmother in Toronto, and together we flew into Victoria, the capital of Vancouver Island, where we then met up with more family. We spent a night exploring downtown Victoria before driving a few hours up north to Campbell River the next day, where Quadra Island is located. I remember stepping off the plane right onto the tarmac, reminiscent of how all air travel used to be, and reveling in the non-humid air.
