I pick up a bag of kale in the fridge to check the sell-by date, it said June 9. I couldn’t remember if we were ahead of that date or behind. I genuinely asked myself if we were still in May? June 9th feels surreal, not possible, yet it was 5 days ago.
I’ve noticed over the last year or so that my kids are obsessed with graphic novels and comics. They cannot get enough of them. When we go to the library they head straight for that section. I’ve tried to force Little House on the Praire on Evelyn, but right now she’s just not interested. She in particular is drawn to Japanese comics, otherwise known as Manga.
These two are due at the library so I wanted to write them up before I lose them. I've been using the library a lot more lately because my addiction to Amazon Prime was getting a little out of control, but I still kinda hate not being able to write in the margins.
I've got two books today, one memoir and one biography, both heavy and at times hard reads, but necessary…
I keep a list on my phone titled "books of 2017" because I like to look at it when I'm feeling bad about myself so I can then remind myself, 'hey, at least you're a good reader.' At the beginning of the year, I had every intention of writing book reviews as I read for the handful of you that might actually care. It's now almost October and I've written two. Here goes…
